Space City BEST was formed
in 1999 to provide the benefits of BEST to the
Houston area. The vision of BEST is “to excite
our nation’s students about engineering,
science, and technology to unlock their
imagination and discover their potential”.
Through the continued involvement of a dedicated
core of volunteers, teachers, sponsors, and
schools, Space City BEST has provided a very
exciting, well managed, enjoyable education
opportunity for thousands of kids over the last
decade. The number of schools participating in
the Space City hub quickly grew from 11 the
first year of the hub's existence to 24 teams,
where it has stayed ever since. Although the
list of participating schools and the event
location changes regularly, the benefit to the
kids remains the same. Some of the very kids who
participated BEST while in school are now
returning as professional mentors or volunteers
as working engineers.
An event like Space City
BEST isn’t possible without the generous
donations of funding from our sponsors and the
time provided by the committed volunteers,
including the teachers that sponsor each team.
Space City BEST is looking for additional
sponsors and volunteers so that we can expand
our program to include more schools each year.
If you are interested in volunteering to help in
this worthwhile program or would like additional
information please contact us at
